A restaurant with garlic based food.
In the very heart of the city, in the medieval building of a functioning pharmacy, there is an unusual restaurant, Balthazar. The locals call it the “garlic restaurant”. One of the narrow streets of Tallinn leads to this restored restaurant. There is a nice view over the Town hall’s square that opens out from the windows of the building.
The Medieval flavour of the external shape of the restaurant is also inherent in the interior design.
Visitors to the restaurant get to the restaurant hall on the second floor of the building via the ancient staircase. The interior of this cosy small restaurant often fascinates its visitors.
All furniture - the tables, the armchairs, the sofas look antiquarian. On one of the walls there is a picture of Rein Tammika. In the bar it is possible to see a collection of ancient coins and chemist's utensils which have been found during the restoration of the place. Of special pride are the cupboards with bottles of wine. Aromas of the food mix up with the sweet smell of the hubble-bubble (nargile) water pipe. Pleasant music and lighting add to the comfort. A favourite meal of the restaurant is being prepared on a stone frying pan - a beefsteak-grill «Balthazar» is well worth tasting! The main component of all the food in this restaurant is garlic. It is possible to taste many original dishes of Asian or European cuisine. For example, garlic ice-cream – an amazing thing! Want to try it? Welcome to "Balthazar"!
